322/365–Pleural Empyema

I hope you and yours never have to experience this complication of pneumonia. That little drawing there?  The shaded in area is the “fluid” that isn’t draining for my dad after the procedure to insert the drain tube. He described the tube insertion (which is replicated in no small part each time he moves) as what he would imagine it would feel like if someone were to take a wood rasp to his tissues.


This whole experience is surreal, leaving me struggling to not fear the possibility of his death. There are more treatment options, but unfortunately they dwindle by the day and their risks are greater while their outcomes are far less certain.
